THE ESTATE

Quinta das 3 Quintas® is a family-run farm in the heart of the Douro.

Among slopes shaped over decades, restored vineyards, and olive groves sculpted by time, the land is cared for every day with dedication and a sense of continuity.

Here, agriculture means respecting nature’s rhythm and producing with authenticity, deeply connected to the Douro region.

The family behind

Quinta das 3 Quintas

Carvalho e Mota
family

The history of the Quinta is intertwined with that of the Carvalho e Mota® family.

After decades in the business world, José and Mercedes decided to return to one of their oldest roots: the land.

In 2004, they acquired this then-abandoned property and, where many saw difficulty, they saw potential. They restored the vineyards, revitalized the olive groves, and step by step rebuilt an active and sustainable Douro farm.

Today, Quinta das 3 Quintas® is the result of that vision: a family project built with persistence, hard work, and a deep connection to the Douro.

João Vieira

Winemaker João Vieira closely oversees every stage of production, from vineyard to cellar.

Working with estate-grown grapes, he collaborates closely with the Quinta’s team, who follow the vineyards and nature’s rhythm on a daily basis.

From this joint work, balanced, precise wines with Douro character are born.

The goal remains clear: to respect the essence of Quinta das 3 Quintas® and to express the Douro in every bottle.
